Portable abrasive grinding, cutting, polishing, and wire buffing wheels should always be inspected closely before usage.
Try the "ring test" in which the wheel is tapped gently with a light, non-metallic instrument.
A stable and undamaged wheel when tapped will give a clear metallic tone or "ring."
When vacuuming hazardous particles (lead, asbestos, etc.) a high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter should be used, not a standard shop vacuum.

Even Low Voltage is dangerous.
Each Year in the US, about 200 construction workers die from electricution on the job. ONE in THREE of these deaths are by low voltage: 110 to 220 volts.
WORKING IN THE COLD CAN BECOME NOT ONLY UNPLEASANT, BUT UNSAFE AS WELL. If you are working in the cold and experience fatigue, drowsiness, uncontrollable shivering, bluish skin, slurred speech, clumsy movements, or become irritable, irrational or confused, go inside immediately. You may be suffering adverse effects from the cold
REMEMBER THE SIX-FOOT RULE: It dosen't take much before a fall becomes really dangerous. If the height you are working is six feet or more, you need fall protection. Fall protection is still a good idea for shorter heights, but above six feet it is mandatory.
